Teach a Class
PVCE is currently considering proposals for noncredit enrichment classes and public programs in Powell. If you or anyone you know is interested in sharing unique knowledge or abilities by teaching a noncredit community education enrichment class, we invite you to share and utilize application packet information. This invitation is extended to returning and potentially new instructors. Please complete the enclosed course outline and application forms and return them to our office as soon as possible. Submit before the end of June for maximum consideration for the fall semester class lineup and before mid-November for spring class consideration.
Early submissions help maximize eventual marketing efforts for classes. Tardy proposals will be considered on a limited basis as space, time and availability permit. We have enclosed a postage-paid return envelope for your convenience.
Fall class date options occur post-Labor Day through mid-December. Spring semester class options occur from late January through early May, excluding Sundays and official college holidays. Consult us for details on college holidays
How does compensation for teaching work?
Enrollees pay fees to cover the cost of instruction, advertising, and some brochure and administrative expenses. A GENERAL guideline of $3 per class hour plus a supply fee, if applicable, seems to help many instructors determine a reasonable tuition rate. (For example, tuition for a session meeting for four 2-hour classes would cost $24.) This is a guideline, not a rule. We also usually consider free public service programs, which are usually offered at no charge to the public and with no compensation to the presenter. Most instructors receive 55% of the instruction portion of the tuition. The instructor provides supplies and must accurately predetermine per student supply fee expenses. Supply fees are reimbursed to the instructor at 100%. (Students must get full value for their supply fee.) After a course has been approved for inclusion in the lineup, a contract will be created and mailed to the instructor for his/her inspection and approval of details.
PVCE provides facilities, registration services, some copy services, fee collection, some promotional services, and administrative services.
