Board of Cooperative Educational Services

What is BOCES?

The purpose of a BOCES agreement is to provide a method whereby school districts and community college districts may cooperate to offer educational services. Park County School District #1 and Northwest College entered into such an agreement in June 1993 to create Powell Valley Community Education. It is supported by a ½-mill tax assessed on property valuation within the Powell School District. The assessment enables funding for supporting administrative staff. All classes, programs, and activities conducted by PVCE are expected to be self-supporting. PVCE provides many programs in cooperation with and gratitude to PCSD#1, NWC, local businesses, Powell Valley Healthcare, and many community organizations and individuals who instruct and/or volunteer.

The BOCES’ mission is to enhance the quality of life in our community by offering lifelong learning opportunities.
